You can buy the entire rear caliper and mount for under $200.00. Why screw around and maybe wind up with a broken caliper, or a leaking brake when you can replace the whole shebang for short money?

rolled up 300 kms in 4 ours... passed through 3 mountain passes (Futa, Oppio, Radici)... 5 provinces (Bologna, Pistoia, Lucca, Modena, Reggio Emilia), crossed in many points 3 major river (Reno, Panaro, Secchia)... my bike runs like a piano... tyres stuck on the road... 38 Celsius on the plain... ten degrees less on passes... stress killer...

I understand that aligning a new caliper is not for the faint of heart DIY person. Since my rear pads still have some life in them and I can still ride a few more miles, I bit the bullet and called the local H-D dealership's service department and made an appointment for them to install my pads that I already bought. They agreed to install them but cannot warranty them, of course. If the caliper has to be replaced because they cannot free up the piston, then I'll have the peace of mind that an experienced pro will do the job - expensive as it may be.

They are almost two hours away and I've had good experiences with their sales, parts and service departments in the past. When the current monsoons pass, I'll drop the bike off before the scheduled date and maybe they can work it in earlier than that.

Took it around the block and they felt pretty good. Hopefully get a better feel for them tomorrow on a longer ride.
