Default Naked frame cafe home made controls

I like the 2001 Sportster but disliked the mid postion controls and low seating postion. I'm not a foward control guy and my other two bikes, Ducati and 79 Triumph are naked frame with set back controls...
I modified the stock parts to work ...It's sort of pattered from the expensive Sato rear sets. It all works smoothly on the road.
Total cost about $75 for bits and pieces and the low ride handle bars...
The Supertrapp exhaust was not inexpensive
Knee knocker air filter is next to go...

Nice set up. Maybe, if Hippysmack sees it, they'll warrant a section in Sportsterpedia.com.

Thanks....I bought the funky seat to replace the Lepera that the bike came with...It feels good and I am warming up to the two tone....

I just installed this well used air filter setup I got on Ebay for 30 bucks..It was a spike style,I modified it to look less Medieval...I also fabricated the breathers...

That's a pretty ingenious way to move them back. \\
I like em.
Just wish my legs bent that far to use them.....

I've added them to the Sportsterpedia on the Rearset page:
http://sportsterpedia.com/doku.php/t...emade_rearsets

Maybe it'll help someone else.
Thanks for sharing.

And thank you toejam.

Thanks.. I see the other conversion using relocated forward controls is also interesting for the rubber mount...My set up is not to far back so it's ok for a 6 foot rider, especially an older rider..You feet are just slightly foward of being directly under your butt. The pegs are pulled in as far as practical. So body weight is supported on your butt and legs, not just the butt like mid or forward . controls..And the set up does not increase vibration felt through the pegs.
