Can you post a picture of your crutch in the holder (or crutches if you carry two)? Just thinking ahead, since none of us are getting younger. Easier to change that belt than the belt on the Sportster trike, which has to have the whole rear axle disassembled to put a new belt on. That belt is only on a single wheel and would be the same as changing the belt on 2 wheel Sportster. I am not gonna change either one on the side of the road as long as I have roadside assistance insurance. If it ain't too far I will have somebody bring my trailer and take it back to the shop where there is jacks and lifting stands. If it is too far away for that, it will either be hauled to a Can Am dealership for repair or loaded in a U-Haul for the ride home. I have done a lot of repairs on the side of the road, but I ain't piling sticks and rocks under the swing arm and trying to change a belt without all the proper tools.

Yeah, you could rig up a carried for either bows or guns like the crutch holders. My bow is a take down recurve, so it is not a problem to just strap across the seat. The top part comes off that Koplin Clamp with a sort of pin device. You could bolt the base on permanent and only put the top of the clamp on when you wanted to haul the bow / guns.



I carried the crutches down low on the left side on the Sporty. The tubes were under the left axle and the front holder was bolted to the left foot peg mount. Carried them like that for 20 years / over 300,000 miles and only had one small problem in all that time.

You are starting to sound like my younger brother after putting his 1972 kick start only FLH in Father in Laws storage barn on the in-laws mountain in Colorado. I think one of his daughters or son-in-laws will inherit it.

I gave the Sporty to my son. We will put the title in his name when he comes down to get it. I don't need but one scooter. Had several of them that were all tagged and legal a few times, but always just rode the favorite one. The others just sat in the shop.

I do ride the Spyder a lot, but I also rode the Sporty a lot. It is warm enough here to ride all year. If I am not hauling something large enough to need the truck, I go on the bike.

I hear you about not working on the side of the road, I prefer to avoid that lately myself (not that I ever enjoyed it).

Knee grip pad for side of the tank........... made for Honda CB500, but no logo on these. Not difficult to put on. Come with 3M sticky pads.

5,000 miles on it in about 5 months and no problems at all so far. Put fog light / running light combo on it and RLS glass pack......

Very fast and stable. Corners much better than any single front wheel trike I ever rode. Don't see very many of these around my area. Everybody always asking questions about it. Way less vibration than my old hard mound Sporty, but just about anything would have less vibration than that. You can lay your hand on the metal part of the handlebar with the Spyder running and barely feel any vibrations.

So far the only down side of it is the front end is very low. You have to always be aware of running over stuff or going through potholes. It not a big problem, but way less ground clearance than the Sporty had.

No, I could raise it with adjustments at the shocks. It has not been a problem so far. Low center of gravity has advantages in cornering.
