"UPDATE" Rode the same 200 mile route, that I rode a few days before the 'Fork Oil Change' and am happy to tell you'all that it was smoother and didn't bottom out, like when you hit a chuckhole with a skinny 21" front wheel.

Bravo... When I changed oil here I had to jack the front wheel off the ground to avoid fighting the springs. Not a big deal but not user-friendly either.
I may try this method next time. Or I may pull the forks and overhaul them and add easy-fill caps.

Another minor note, the fork drain screws are JIS, NOT phillips and it is very easy to strip the heads using a Phillips driver. If you don't have JIS bits or drivers in a pinch you can grind the tip of a Phillips bit and it will fit JIS screws much better. This difference has been causing grief when working on Japan sourced bikes and parts (like Showa forks) for many years...some info below from a tool vendor.

When I do a fork oil replacement I like to remove the forks, pull the caps empty the oil then fill with tranny fluid (Cheapest I can find) and work the fork up and down then pour out the dirty tranny fluid and repeat until clean, put in some fork oil and work that up and down a couple of times to get the tranny fluid out then fill (with correct amount) with fresh oil.
