Hello,

does the headers and exhaust of a 2004/2005 Sportster fit on an old 1988 Sportster? (Vance & Hines Blackout)

does it fit or does the headers / exhaust collide somewhere on the engine ... etc

Headers on the early Rubbermounts tend to run closer to the engine cases, sprocket cover cause the moved the rear master cylinder back behind the frame. Your earlier model has the rear master cylinder mounted onto the sprocket cover and might interfere with those exhaust.

where does the new Sportster have its master brake?

What can I do ? are there any solutions?

Some of the rubber mount 2-1 systems will work on a rigid mount with mid controls. Most will not fit with forward controls.

The early rubbermounts carry their rear master cylinder mounted to an eleven pound casting bolted to the rear, bottom of the frame. In the filthiest place on the bike. They then ran the exhaust systems tighter to the bike. Later models had the master cylinder relocated to the sprocket cover as did the rigid mont bikes. So later made exhaust should be an easier fit. Just not sure when that change took place.
That isn’t to say you can’t make something work. I have an early SuperTrapp 2:1 mounted on my 2004”R”, but it required some judicious grinding of the footpeg support bracket as well as the underside of the brake pedal.
