Default Not such a bargain after all...

Thought I got a bargain on these Speedster bars when I bought them at Wauseon this summer. Perfect for my '69 XLCH project, I thought.

Bike is now back from my indie, who rebuilt the front end. Anyone see a problem with the bars?

IMG_0257.jpg

Yeah, me too. I've got a mix of Speedster and Laconia bars, I think, but I'd like the brain trust to weigh in.

Seems like someone posted something about their own mismatched bar set not so long ago. Does anyone remember who or what?

Anyone interested in making a mutually beneficial trade so I (and YOU) have a matched set?

With handlebars, it really helps to see them from multiple angles. Can you post a couple of photos?

In your photo, the left bar looks like it could be a Laconia, but the right bar looks to have too much rise for a Speedster. However, as I said, angle is everything.

Yes! This is the post! Do I see correctly that you're on the other side of the Atlantic, DirtyHarry68?

Tomorrow I'll wander out to the garage and shoot a few more photos of what I've got.

I agree with Magneto, the angle is everything. Also is the angle of how they are mounted. SO, are they aligned the same? And more pics.

Right bar looks to have almost the same rise as a Laconia; my mismatched bars (Speedster and XL) are almost 2" less rise than what I'm pretty sure is a right Laconia.

That would be me; DirtyHarry posted the link...

You have a (maybe) right Speedster and a left Laconia, I have a left Speedster and a right Laconia.

Wait, I think I'm getting - uh, no, it's gone. What day is it?

PM'd you.

My $.02...... After searching for Buckhorn replacements, and listening to this board. You can't tell what is what with the 2 loose bars on a table. Bought 2 sets that looked OK until delivered. The only way to see what they are is to 1) mount them. Or 2) clamp them in a vise as if mounted. Easy enough to do, but not likely done by a seller.
And then there's the Throttle and Timer spiral to deal with..... And switches...
Not an easy slam dunk process.

HI amigos, just looking at your mismatched bars here, to me it looks like your throttle side bar is a big twin bar, see how much longer it is coming out of the riser before the first bend than the other bar, I have a couple sets of both big twin split bars and sportster splits, and that is the biggest difference between them...
