With that big sleeping bag tied to the front of the bike you have more coverage than most small windshields/windscreens.

Hahaha, and it comes off in a matter of seconds when I don't need to carry a sleeping bag.

I used my windshield on my way down to the Sturgis Bike Rally and on my way back. While I was in the Black Hills I rode without it, no glare, no having to look through bug slaughter, and had more air movement around me. It was in the 90's F every day and some of those canyons had absolutely no breeze at all. The highways home are long and flat without trees and lots of bugs and bees, the windshield kept my upper body clean unlike my shins. Still had to keep my helmet shield closed because those little bugger seem to be able to fly around my windshield.

i've only ridden one bike with a windshield and that was my dads and just once.

btw that's a nice shot. i'd like to go to the black hills but not for the sturgis rally. there's a lot of good trails and rock climbing out there or at least so my friend tells me.

I've rode motorcycles since I was 12. The Sportster I have now came with a QD windshield, though it wasn't on when I brought it home. I did attach it once just to see how it worked & what it looked like. Just wasn't my thing.

Windshields, fairings, big comfy seats, foot boards, all those things have a purpose. Some like em, some don't. Whatever someone else's taste runs to is none of my business. Several years ago someone on here was selling hoodies with a Sportster engine on the front and on the back the slogan; "If I wanted a windshield and a radio, I'd have taken my car." I still have mine & wear it regularly.
