Default Rear Turn Signal Relocation For International 48/72/Nightster/Iron

The usual method of putting the turn signals on a bar attached to the number plate doesn't work with these models, because they don't have the number plate sticking up above the mudguard in the normal way.

There is a kit for the US bikes, which also relocates the number plate to the back of the mudguard:

Here are the instructions.

This isn't really what we want for the international bikes, for a couple of reasons:
  1. The turn signal weldment (the tube assembly that supports the turn signals and the number plate) doesn't work with the number plate on the international models, which is already below the back of the mudguard.
  2. The international models have LED lights, and need different wires and connectors.
There is a kit for the international models, although it isn't well publicised. It isn't on the website or in the Parts & Accessories catalogue, except that it's mentioned within the text description of a couple of the saddlebags.

It's part # 67800075.

I haven't got a pic, I'm afraid. You won't find a link to the instructions anywhere else, but after much searching I've managed to find them:

Hi Folkie. This thread is old but talks about something that interest me. The kit you propose for the international model Sportster, would it be the same Sportster like my Canadian model shown in the picture.?






The rear stop light sticks out so much, like to signal the people to the side that I'm sopping

I've installed the stop turn signal module that turned my amber rear signal to red and blinks red to signal. Now I what to delete that pig nose stop light. would the US kit be more convenient since I would chop the rear fender to match?

It's not what I propose, it's the kit H-D designed and produce for that specific application.

The Sportsters the kit is meant for are the international 48/72/Nightster/Iron other than Canadian models. The difference is that the Canadian models have the same rear end that all rubber mount Sportsters did before the Nightster came along, whereas other international models have the chopped fender like the Nightster etc, but have the license plate coming down from the back of the fender instead of a side mount, and have rear lights incorporated in the turn signals.

With either of those kits you'd be chopping your fender, I assume? The international kit wouldn't provide you with a new license plate. The US does give you a license plate, but not a light for it, since it expects you to have a US bike with a side mounted plate, and you're expected to reuse the light from the side mount.

Would you be better off not buying a kit, and instead getting the individual parts to fit the interntional license plate, plate light, etc?
