Default 1979 XLH gearbox trouble

Hi guys,
New to this forum, and to the XLH, and I've stumbled upon some trouble in the gearbox. It was working fine when i pulled it apart for a check up, bur a washer came out looking less than mint. No damage to any of the moving parts, but it looks as its been rubbing the case at the end of the countershaft, and that the washer should have been between the bearing and first gear.

How is the case supposed to look? Any idea as to what to do?

Cheers, Jon

Most here suggest using https://imgbb.com/ for posting pictures.

that boss is supposed to be smooth. two things right off
1. axial play
2. plug in trap door upside down so oil can not enter into bearing.

Tanks, but this is not in trap door, but right hand casing.

Replace bearing and check play on shaft.

You should have parts breakdown manual

Use the search box at the bottom of this thread to look up what I am saying.
