This is my ride. Purchased it at the age of 15 in 1990. This car is not an original Z-28. As a kid, I always wanted it to be a Z so I made it one when I was older. I had a few purists give me hell and my response was that I'm never parting with the car so I made it whatever the hell I wanted. My 11 year old shares the same mechanical passion as me so he will inherit it someday, NOT until I'm done with it though. I have many years ahead of me to enjoy her.

Nothing wrong with building a clone, unless you try to sell it as original. Screw the purists you built it for you, not them.

Exactly, plus my days of burning up tires and clutches are over. Countless times kids roll up, rev, and expect some fun at the light. I waive them on.

There was an article about a guy's GS Dodge Dart im Mopar Action some time ago. The guy always wanted one but they a pretty rare and quite expensive. He built one out of a low line Dart. He got a lot of crap from the Mopar snobs. They would check out his car as well as the VIN and give him crap about his phony GS. His response was that "I never said it was an original GS, I built it for myself." I sometimes cringe when someone cuts up a rare original but making a stripper into something nice does no harm unless you try to pass it off as an original.
