Silver solder is about 2% silver. Tin is the most important alloy. On a vibrator like we drive tin won't hold steel. Pure silver is a brazing is very solid compared to soldering.

POR15 Tank sealer works great. It turns into a grey hard coating that is very tough. I got the kit with a cleaner, and rinsed it before drying with a hair dryer. I was nervous about that, but didn't ignite anything. Then applied the coating and swirled it around until it set up.

I have used the Caswell epoxy coating in a few tanks with great success. I coated my 1961 BSA Super Rocket tank 18 years ago and it still looks great! It has the damn Midwest ethanol gas in it all of the time too!

never had a liner to work long term. the old tanks were cadmium plated inside.
thing is, liner on liner is like pouring new concrete over old concrete, insured failure as they will not bind together.
the tank outside in the sun is all you need, a day or two and there is no vapor (cap off of coarse!)

Hey brother...lining won't do anything and neither will solder..especially on a mounting area..itll crack in no time...empty gas, clean tank w hot hot water...a couple times..if ya Have access to a steamer even better or a power washer w sum Zep..then Mig weld it..if ya can't get a mig weld on it then Braze it...just know the tinsle strength is going in that area so low heat on the braze..if your in or near Jersey I would gladly do it for ya...
