How are the 2007 Sportsters? Any issues with the first year Fuel Injection? Thank you!

Some of the early EFI Sportsters had an issue with the fuel pump, but they have all pretty much been fixed by now would be my guess. And if not, the kit to fix it was just a few dollars if I recall correctly. The issue had to do with the regulator collapsing on itself (if I remember correctly). I haven't heard of many fuel pump failures over the past few years. One of my 2007's had the early fuel pumps with the flawed regulators, but I never had an issue. Eventually I put the fix in it anyway.

Early EFI bikes are also more likely to have issues with the low fuel light coming on erratically . I think it was 2008 or 09, they came out with a new resistor pack to help the issue. I think the latest bikes have more logic built in to prevent the issue.

All the 2007-2009 bikes can have potential issues with the relay and fuse panel having corrosion. The way the wiring runs down the underside of the frame and into the back of the fuse panel seems to funnel water into the relays. When the relays go bad, they can exhibit all sorts of odd issues (fuel pump running with bike turned off, bike shutting off randomly, etc). The relays are supposed to be sealed, but there's been plenty of evidence to show they aren't. But, it's a $12 part from Harley (even cheaper from auto parts store). I replace them as maintenance items. In 2010 they changed the location of the fuse panel and issue seems to have gone away.

Otherwise, all the rubber mount Sportsters (including 07's) have the dreaded "spring plate" in the clutch pack that all seem to self destruct at some point. When these spring plates destruct, the brass rivets break apart and add the clutch hub can get grooves and damage. The general recommendation is to replace the spring plate with extra friction/steel plates.

Still LOVE mine.

I think I remember having a recall done on the pressure regulator. My light works fine, comes on EXACTLY at 3.2g everytime, and I replaced the relays ONCE and coated them with dielectric grease (that was at least 5 years ago, maybe longer).

Other than that, not single complaint.

Screw loose Dan and Bone has given good solid information. I have a 2008 model and all of my bike is dated of 2007 equipment. Maybe some very minor changes after the 2007. I think i had a part B upgrade to the fuel pump. As there is a little sticker besdide the fuel outlet under tank where fuel line connects. My fuel light mainly shows active when i full up. The opposite of its purpose. I do not find it a big issue and i will replace to the new upgrades, one day. As the forum is full of great info, just keep an eye on all grounds, fuses and the two relays etc.
