It is badly in need of some TLC. What you see is what you get. The engine got lost in my brother's divorce somehow.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it (especially if you don't know what you're doing). Most Sportster problems are owner-induced.

Not really...... my brother brought it to me and was supposed to bring the engine to me later in a box to put back together. Meanwhile his wife filed for a divorce and the box of bike parts disappeared in the aftermath of the storm. It has been parked out by my wood shed for about 40 years now. I let somebody strip most of the usable parts off of it long ago. Don't have a clue where the title might be. My brother passed away years ago. If he still had the title nobody will ever find it now.

I've always appreciated Hondas, and grew up with them like many others here. My Dad still rides one. So sought out an older Honda to rebuild. While it wasn't really what I went looking for, I ended up with an 82 CBX550 that I'm very slowly bringing back to roadworthy condition. It's taking quite a while to accumulate the parts as it was a reasonably limited build with not big sales numbers, so tricky to source what I need.
And then I got distracted six months after I started as I acquired a new bike, so funds I earmarked for Honda parts got rerouted to "finishing" the Bobber instead. However, Muse (the CBX) now runs pretty well. Though right now the forks are off to remove the linked air-assisted internals and take them back to conventional telescopic forks. Once the forks are back on I'll need to work on the brakes which will be another adventure all together

Before the forks came off with new exhaust and tyres.

The "steampunk" inboard ventilated disc brakes.

I had 2 Hondas in the early 90's and I really enjoyed them.
Apparently they weren't common models but that's one of the things that made them fun.

Just replace the headlight with a mailbox and cut the top off the tank and make it a planter.

3 of my neighbours have mailboxes on the same set of posts as mine and the posts sit right in front of one of their houses. I don't think they would appreciate that. They don't have any sense of style.
