This follow up post is for the next guy, struggling with an intermittent charging problem & the cursed P0562 DTC.....
Regardless, this is what I did and where I'm at: - installed a CE-212 on my 2011 XL1200cp.
- installation went ok but could have been better:
- the push mount zip ties didn't quite line up with the holes on my bike (off by ~ 1/2"). Needed to cut 'em off and get replacement push mount zip ties. Not that big of a deal, just cost me some time and $8 for a fresh package of push mount zip ties.
- ideally, Cycle Electric would have left the push mount zip ties at full length & uninstalled. aka let the customer position the push mount zip ties to suit their bike.
- the locking mechanism on the connectors wasn't identical to HD's. Again, not a big deal.
- Cycle Electric could have used the identical locking mechanism on the connectors. Why they chose not to, escapes me. I would have gladly paid the extra $2 for an identical locking mechanism, complete with the tab to hold the "neutral" switch wire.
- install of the VR went much easier once I removed the front exhaust pipe & muffler, plus the right side forward controls.
- been on a dozen rides since the install. Intermittent charging issue has not come back (yet).
- problem solved ? maybe.... maybe not.
- my PV shows the charging system hangs out in the 13.8 - 13.9v range most of the time (at highway speeds).
Conclusion: - none, yet. aka too early to tell.
- CE-212 seems to work as designed.
- my intermittent charging problem may still be lurking.... thus I'll continue to monitor. If it's problem free for another 3 weeks, I'll consider my problem solved & assume the intermittent charging issue was due to my original flaky HD Voltage Regulator.
