Regarding Amsoil, the almost militant attitude of some of their sellers throwing around their marketing materials and stats and claiming that no other oil will do the job has turned me off to the company and I won't buy their products. Sometimes too much marketing is a bad thing ...

^^Me too. Stuff is not that expensive. I usually never change oils until service interval, but the stuff is cheap enough and the job easy enough that I change it at 5k when I do oil filter change. For some reason, I always expect to see pieces of metal--shouldn't have said that.

Completely agree. And when marketing globally they might reconsider their marketing claims: Second or possibly Third in synthetics!

I am sure it is perfectly fine but it's rather expensive and seems to be group III base stock.

Motul make Transoil Expert 10W-40 GL4 which is ester based and is claimed to be suitable for M/C
wet clutches. It might be a better price than Belray in Europe.

Drag Specialties Gear and Chaincase oil is the same thing for half the price. That's what I'm using and all my local Indy uses in sportsters.
Same as sports-trans.

I've used Rotella in my wet clutch bikes for decades and it's what I use in both of my Sporty primaries.

I have run way over 100,000 miles with Mobil 1 syn in the primary. Rebuilt the engine and never had to do anything to the transmission. Never noticed any difference in the way they shift or sound with Mobil 1 or the Harley primary oil. Using Ford ATF now because it is what Barnett recommends.
