Keep in mind that a molecule of motor oil is on the order of a 1000 times smaller than a micron.

A synthetic media 5 micron filter may even flow more oil than a 20-30 micron cellulose filter. (not that Sportsters have a high oil flow, likely less than a gallon per minute even at 7500 rpms)

Even with cold oil, the worst filter in the picture above has only a 5 psi differential pressure at 1 gpm flow rate. Most of the HD Sportster filters that show specs, have about a 10 psi bypass valve, the highest diff. pressure filter would need a flow rate of over 1.5 gpm (about 1.5 times what the Sportster oil pump pumps at 7500 rpms) to get to that level of differential pressure.
At a 2500 rpm fast idle speed the Sportster oil pump would only pump about a quart a minute. At that flow rate none of the filters above would have over 2 psi differential pressure.
With a 20w-50 (would have about twice the viscosity of the 5w-30) oil it might be twice that diff. psi or about 4 psi, still well below the 10 psi bypass setting.

Hey everyone. Just giving a Heads Up. Concerning the STP Extended Life filter I'm using. Stopped at the local Auto Zone. Was going to purchase another for the next oil change. Picked up the box. Felt too light. Opened the box. They might have changed the filter?? What I saw had the correct color(Black) and part number. The Anti Drainback Valve was moved further in. Mounting plate was different. The filter looks like a black version of the Cheap Line filter. With the orange(Silicone) Valve. And the case was smaller too. The one Max Life filter I checked looked normal.

Nope. Don't have that. I've thought about those filters in the past. I'm not convinced they're all that.
