Default Buell heads and cams!

What year did Sportsters get Buell cams and heads?

1200 Sportsters got Buell XB heads beginning in 2004, with different cosmetics and the breather holes machined. Functionally the same heads though - same ports, hardware, chambers.

The only Sportster to get actual Buell cams from the factory was the XR1200, which was offered from 2008-2012. It got the "K" cams, which are the same specs as the "E" cams used on the 2003-2007 Buells, just configured for the 08+ XR1200 cam box.

I can add this. I had a Cyclone....I think 01, with thunderbolt heads....I believe they called them. But, once I got the carb right, it was a rocketship. It would rev like a race engine from idle, and sounded best under high speed decel. But, I have owned several sportsters from 900-1200 and are nothing like that Buell design. I have often wished I could add a few parts on mine..... But, my wife would kill me. The Cyclone would hammer the back roads at very high speeds, that would have eventually gotten me in trouble....I think. Aaargh.
