Nib there's much there I disagree with but:

1. Trade secrets? BS, there's no super material used by Arai or Shoei that's not available to Nolan, AGV, HJC, Bell, etc.

2. If you think less expensive helmets can't be as protective in a crash, then put up some data. You gave only anecdotal evidence.

3. Ventilation and freezing temps?!? I thought you had experience? Never heard of a FogCity shield or Pinklock? Ventilation can be their enemy.

I think you do a disservice equating price and quality as absolutes. Sometimes you pay for the brand or the amenities when something else would be just as "safe" in an impact. And suggesting otherwise without test data is disingenuous.

i know already you disagree, in most parts, from my point of view... sure i have not the claim, the goal, or pretence to convince you...

yet i liked to tell my opinions... I.E. if you want to be safe for sure... you have to pay... after all inside that thing there is your head... i have only one of that... no spare parts in any warehouse...
also...
i was not able to find... never... the materials Arai and Shoei in particular, but even other brands, use for their products... maybe it's my fault...

as for the rest i rode bikes all year round since 14... now i'm 51... sure i have still a world of things to learn... a true pity life is so short...

P.S.
it's many years i use antifog systems of various nature... pinlocks are the most efficient... but a good vent system for me is a key

changed visor with a new clear one with pinlock (also clear)
changed j type side pods (a little worn out)...
another advantage of a serious helmet... you can have all his parts replaced...
now i am ready for the winter

Which is funny cause I can do that on my Nolan which cost less than 1/2 of my Arai?
