Default Movember Support!!!

Hello all, my name is Nick and I will be going all out this Movember in my effort to support and raise funds for the wonderful organization of Movember & Sons.
My personal story and motivation for growing my upper lip hair stems from my father whom is currently battling for his own health. I am looking for the support of the XLF to help me reach my goal of raising $1000. I am part of a Movember team known as the "Hairy Harley Heroes" which is conjunction with Harley Davidson.

You can make a donation online, to my Movember page @ http://mobro.co/nick84 Every little bit helps.

I will be updating pics of me as the "Mo" grows! Don't forget to post pics of your "Mo"

Thanks to everyone who donates and supports Movember! Now here's a bit about Movember

During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces around the world. With their “Mo’s”, these men raise vital funds and awareness for men's health, specifically prostate cancer and male mental health initiatives.

On Movember 1st, guys register at Movember.com with a clean-shaven face. For the rest of the month, these selfless and generous men, known as Mo Bros, groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery. Supported by the women in their lives, Mo Sistas, Movember Mo Bros raise funds by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts.

http://movember.com

Movember - a global movement

Since its humble beginnings in Melbourne Australia, Movember has grown to become a truly global movement inspiring more than 1.9 Million Mo Bros and Mo Sistas to participate with formal campaigns in Australia, New Zealand, the US, Canada, the UK, South Africa, Ireland, Finland, the Netherlands, Spain, Denmark, Norway, Belgium and the Czech Republic. In addition, Movember is aware of Mo Bros and Mo Sistas supporting the campaign and men’s health cause across the globe, from Russia to Dubai, Hong Kong to Antarctica, Rio de Janeiro to Mumbai, and everywhere in between.

No matter the country or city, Movember will continue to work to change established habits and attitudes men have about their health, to educate men about the health risks they face, and to act on that knowledge, thereby increasing the chances of early detection, diagnosis and effective treatment.

In 2011, over 854,000 Mo Bros and Mo Sistas around the world got on board, raising $125.7 million CAD.

Big steps have been taken towards changing attitudes and habits relating to men’s health around the world but there is still much to be done to catch up with the women’s health movement. Via the moustache, Movember aims to fulfill its vision of having an everlasting impact on the face of men’s health by continuing to spark conversation and spread awareness of men’s health each year.

Pretty impressive for one month's growth.
I already sport a 'tache, but it shall remain untrimmed for the month of November.

As a long-term sufferer from mental health problems I fully support this. A female friend was diagnosed with breast cancer at the same time as I was diagnosed with mental health problems. She got flowers, cards, phone calls etc.... I got nothing. Friends I've known for 17 years said nothing to my face, then when I'm not around whisper to MrsB "how's he doing?". Ho-hum.

Hello Colin. I definitely understand what you mean. My father has battled mental health issues all his life stemming from child hood. I myself had a lot of trouble understanding it and was embarrassed as a child. I didn't want to discuss it with anyone or talk about it at all with him. Frankly, I don't think he wanted to discuss it either. I think this was caused by a lack of knowledge and awareness regarding the severity on Men's mental health. Thanks to charities and programs like "Movember" I have a new out look on the situation. Me, being only 27, can look forward to a much healthier life style from the awareness and lack of embarrassment I feel discussing and health problems I may occur... mental or physical.
