AFAIK the Ironhead never went to 1 inch.

But if your doing this from scratch I would just buy whatever cups I needed. If you pick up a 1 inch triple tree, use the 1 inch cups.

FX disk brake shovelheads had two different 35mm front ends, Kayaba and Showa, both with 1" stem. The early ones 71-72 had the old 33.5mm forks and a drum brake.

my neck bearings are getting a bit crunchy, and I really don't want to deal with the loose bearings...

would rather swap to a 35mm triple tree with timken bearings, then i can reuse my forks.
