Default Heading to the UK for my first time!

I just booked a flight for London from 23 - 30 May for a nice vacation. My first time in the UK. Anyone have some suggestions on inexpensive but nice hotels in areas that I won't get mugged.

Also other then Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, etc... are there some MUST see places?

Lastly, anyone want to get together for a dinner and/or drink?

I am not planning on renting a car so any hotel you suggest needs to be on or near the train line.

Can't wait to see my homeland! Look out UK Bert is coming! Lock up your daughters!

Hey Bert, Don't forget to visit the Ace Café. Check out on-line for what is happening on what night. Always something on the go. it's not far from the tube station either.

Are you into art galleries and/or museums - 'cos there're some very good ones in London.

The RAF Museum... "As one of London's premier tourist attractions reaching us is quick and easy..... a brisk 12 minute walk from Colindale Underground Station."

Have a wander along the South Bank,...some nice bars/resturants down there, then do the London Eye for some great views across the city.
There is also Warrs H-D in Chelsea. Its the oldest Harley shop in Europe. They have a nice display of old bikes,...almost a mini museum.
For reasonable priced hotels,...you could try a Premier Inn.There is a couple of them not far from Tower Bridge.
You can also get the Thames water taxi over to Greenwich Maritime museum and the Cutty Sark.

Yep, those are two of my favourites that I've visited multiple times when in London. I also like the natural history museum. If you are headed to the Ace Cafe, The London Motorcycle Museum is only a few miles away and was pretty neat; lots of cool old Trumpys . Though I had a car for that visit, so not sure on Tube access.

Just be aware that the Motorcycle Museum is only open a couple of days a week.
