Thanks for the note, Bluto - I've changed the text to reflect that and added a note of differentiation between JIS & Philips screw heads...

Hi, I've recently logged into the forum for the first time in some years having recently acquired a Sportster again! Hooray!
I love the wiki - a great quick refresher for tired gray matter that has forgotten some of the details of XL maintenance. Thank you for this resource.
I'd like to contribute to the wiki - for example I just adjusted my primary chain and noticed that the wiki page, while very useful, did not note the wrench sizes so I thought I'd add these to the page, but it doesn't seem that I can add to the page as you usually can in wikis?
Is there a mechanism for this?

Talk to Hippy or IXL2Relax. Can't have anyone/everyone adding stuff that hasn't been verified or making a mess of things.

I always that the point of a wiki is that it is based on community contributions - wikipedia for example. Although some form of approval system is needed for sure. I think wikipedia taught us that!

All of the XLForum community has been invited to contribute to the Sportsterpedia.
The site belongs to Bert (owner of the XLF) and anybody that wants to contribute may do so.
You can simply send a note or info in this thread if you would like one of us to include it.
However everyone has been invited to edit the wiki.
"How Can You help? " with info on doing so is on the welcome page.
You will have to contact Bert to get access.
http://www.sportsterpedia.com/doku.php
edit:
IXL2Relax and myself are admins of the site and we generally contribute and oversee the content.
But Bert has ultimate say over the site.
It's important to note that anything added can and most likely does change, move to a different page or may even be removed (even when I write it).
We want the best information possible for both the historic value as well as help for someone that may need that information.
So yes, bolt sizes and just about anything that may be helpful is welcomed.
We simply ask that any changes to be made should add to or make the page / presentation better than what's already there.
If it's not there, it should be there. That's where you, I and us come in.
We are two people posting historic and technical information on all aspects of Sportsters over the last 63 years.
Quite a hump for two folks.
So any help in whatever form is appreciated.

Your concept isn't wrong - but Hippysmack and I have been the only ones to commit to the project in terms of editing pages -BUT- Lots of others have contributed information (both historically in various threads and currently in new threads and others from our specific request of some particular info).
So don't be shy - post up the info you have - we'll get it into the right page.
If you have an interest in long term collecting, validating and editing information into the SP, we'll be glad to have your hands on the keyboard... In addition to learning the wiki language, we have developed a style of organization and formatting to be preserved, but we will be happy to help you get your 'hands' wet (up to your shoulders) with work...

On this page:
http://sportsterpedia.com/doku.php/t...o:transfinal01
It looks like there is typo in the 1200 04-05 4th gear ratio,
Should the 1.810 really be 1.180

HD Service Bulletins - is a copy of the original available somewhere ?
Sorry to be a PITA with such a lame question......
I tripped over HD Service Bulletin #659 in the wiki today:
http://sportsterpedia.com/doku.php/parts artsplus-01b (you'll have to scroll to #659)
But my question is more basic:
How does one find a copy of the original HD Service Bulletin ? Reason being, I'd like to see if the original contains any more details than what is already listed in the wiki.
If the wiki is a precise reproduction of the original, I'm good with that, but how do I know ?
BTW.... Google'ing "HD Service Bulletin 659" didn't turn up a copy.
Thx for entertaining my question.
