Did factory tires ever have raised white letters?
Go for black tires.

While I understand what you're saying, I think we all modify our bikes (at least I do) to please us and not you, or others for that matter.

The last centery I use to put "Roadrunner" tire on my 1992 XLH. They get white letter and prety fun indeed.
I tried to write "PHANTOM" on my Pirelli rear tyre with special paint. The quality job is not the best and the letter are too small. But the tires need to be changed next year.
I think that white wall tyre are fun for an old heavy Duo-Glide FLH; for a 1960-1980 Ironhead white letters are fun too. Any idea witch new tires exist with white letters ?
I think that "Roadrunner" only exist in black today.

I would like to put raised white letter tires back on it to give it that factory look but am having a hard time finding a matching set from the same manufacturer. The front size is 100/90-19 while the back is 110/90-18.
I like the Bridgestone Spitfire S11 but they only make the front tire in my size. Looks like the only rear rwl tire they make are for 15 and 16 inch rims.
They do make a rwl tire in 120/90-18 which may fit my rear rim but the tire is made for the front.
Anyone have any suggestions as to what to do without resorting to a paint stick?
Thanks
Jon

I feel your pain Jon.
My first street bike was a Yamaha Virago, and the S11 white letter tires were all I used on it. Very good tires, and Bridgestone made the exact sizes I needed. I liked the look of them on that bike. It was white and blue and I thought the tire lettering went well with it.

Personal style and taste have a lot to do with where and when you were born & raised.
I grew up very rural and now I live in the suburbs. The last time I bought new tires for my F150 they asked me if I wanted the white letters inside or visible. I thought white letters were cool so I said visible. My buddies gave me such a hard time I went back to have them changed.

Should have told your buddies to F off. Do what you like not, what everyone else likes.

White lettered tires on a motorcycle looks cool. This was a popular thing in the '70's and 80's. I've had 3 bikes with WL tires and really liked the look. Cleaning them and keeping them white was another story. All black tires (for cars) caught on in the '80s when a lot of people were going for the "EURO" look. Give me the good 'ol American look- Whitewalls/White Lettered/White Outline Lettered any day.

I used a paint marker to do the letters on my MT66 tires in yellow. Painting the letters on the tires was a big thing in the show truck 20 years ago, and a few people are doing it on their 18 wheelers today. Iowa 80 and a lot of other big rig chrome shops sell the paint markers to do that.

I think they look retarded but whatever turns your crank as they say.
I was turning whitewalls/letters in on my muscle cars back in the day too when some thought they were cool. Not sure about the where you grew up part but maybe an age thing.
