Default Benelli tank on 79’ sportster

New to the Harley scene, just bought a 79’ xlh yesterday to replace my much loved 73’ cb750. I know this has been done a lot but damn I love this tank. Looked all over the net for info but can’t find any tips on putting a Benelli Mojave tank on my bike, id like to get a couple tips before I pull the trigger and buy one then figure it out for myself. Thanks

would have to see the mounting if it has any.
that said, if it does not, then under tank mount is the way to go. if it does not have the holes for it, easy to add threaded blind weld-a-let to it, surface or sunken.
i have that on my coffin tank on the ole 74ch
then you have to consider tunnel and height.

Front mount is rubber donuts to reduce vibration and bolt to the frame in the rear. You are stepping outta the box. There ain't not friggin "kit." FABRICATE IT.

Many metric bikes had that mounting of Rubber donuts on the frame and a rubber mount in the back with a slot, that stretches over the tab.

I was looking at those Mojave tanks a couple of months ago. There are a lot of new aftermarket tanks available on eBay , I’m not sure about the quality. There are some NOS and used tanks too.

The Mojave tank has a large tunnel so it looks adaptable. They are 10 liters capacity, not much than a peanut tank.

the 74 frame had provision for mounting on rubber doughnuts, perhaps the later frame still has the holes.
does look like you need your tom terrific hat for this one.

Thanks for the info guys, I found a fab shop by my place to weld the fittings on, not my gig. I ordered the tank so I’ll post pics and how it goes.
