Default Shine

Hey, you’re not the only one that got into the shine, I was forced to guzzl/ sip a wee bit earlier, then it disappeared. Thought maybe Jerry took it with him when he went on his last RV search.....

Just after leaving Sunday morning I noticed there were a few RVs parked at the rest area just east of Sullivan. I could have swore I seen his bike.
Shortly afterwards I was passed by a bike and rider that looked awful familiar. He passed me doing atleast 90mph, wearing nothing but his underwear and a broken pair of fuzzy handcuffs hanging off his right wrist. He was weaving in and out of traffic in a hurry for sure. Then I hear a horn blasting and see an RV with some chick hanging out the window screaming obscenities.
Anyone heard from him?

Joe, clear out your message file. Tried to reply to yours & it said you have exceeded your capacity. I'm gonna call Iron Horse in the next coupla days to see if they have space for 2 trucks with trailers. If they don't have RV spaces, I'll see if they'll rent us a couple parking spaces in the back 40, with shower access. My phone is 740-361-7891 if you want to text me.

So many rv's, so little time! I broke camp Sunday morning ( this was an extended camping week for me), rode down 19 to Steelville and got on 8 headed east. Only one car going my direction in over 30 miles to Potosi! The ride on that streach approched the sublime! Made to my destination in southern Illinois, Elisabethtown, in the Shawnee National Forest and camped at Tower Rock on the Ohio river. It was a sight to see tug boats pushing barges longer than a football field!

My friend, Braze, came out with his camper and joined me. We kayaked the Cache River and he showed me the oldest tree in Illinois, a Bald Cyprus, believed to be 1500 years old. Both cyprus and tupelo grow here, it's their most nothern range. Braze has worked as a guide in the area and has an encyclopedic knowledge of plants and animals in this ecosystem.

Today I headed home, mostly by interstate, and arrived safely at 5:45 this afternoon. I almost got delayed by a gaggle of rv's at a rest stop on I-69 but managed to make a quick get away.

A BIG THANKS to the co-hosts for a great weekend of fine food, friends and roads!

Default Getting home:

Jerry, sounds like you definitely had the better return trip, our 12 hours of super slab was no picnic. Glad you were able to get clear of them pesky RV’s, they can be a handful!
