Default Do all Harleys miss at idle?

2007 883
10,300 miles

Bike runs GREAT!

But every once in a while, it will cough or miss at idle. Like it forgot what to do. (F.I.) I don't mean the single-pin-crankshaft vibes.
Is this common to Harleys?

Due to cam timing? Running lean? Spark plug misfire?

If you’re runnuing a stock set up you are probably lean, thank you E.P.A., and that might explain it. Too low of and idle many aggravate the situation as well?

Lean is a good possibility:
Fuel injectors clean?

Too low idle...do 07 up EFI have an idle speed adjustment?

Spark plug condition?

Harness ground condition?

Is it Missing or does "Carb Farts"? these are two totally different things....

- Missing = some electrical issue
- Carb Farts = Carb needs tuning (lean condition)

Here are about 80 plus Threads on Carb Farts: http://xlforum.net/forums/search.php?searchid=9983370

From an electrical standpoint...

Here's the Sportsterpedia section on checking the Battery Cables & Grounds:
http://sportsterpedia.com/doku.php/techtalk:evo:elec01

Also, the 2007-2009 fuse block was a known issue of gunked up connections that caused various electrical issues. You probably want to pull the fuse tray and thoroughly clean that. Then use dielectric grease on the block when reinserting the fuses & relays.

It seems to me I remember something about the early EFI models getting upgraded ECM flashes at the dealership that resolved some idle issues...

OK - See this thread: http://xlforum.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2042807
which refers to Post#295 of this thread: http://xlforum.net/forums/showpost.p...&postcount=295
