Reading this makes me nervous. I am about a month away from ordering a kit from them. Really curious to get some responses from Hammer. Everything before this i read was always positive.
Has anyone felt like they received a genuine answer to the problems? Seems like this is not a one off situation.

I got a genuine answer. The person I was dealing with flat out told me that during the time in which my kit was put together (winter 2020), an employee was accidentally gapping rings wrong. Unfortunately, my replacement kit (which arrived 1.5+ months later) was problematic as well, although due to a separate problem (hole in jug leading to oil drain). Third kit has been ok. I appreciated the honesty but unfortunately it doesn’t appear that person works there anymore.
The reason you probably only see positive reviews is because not everyone who has had a bad experience, like myself, has ever posted up until now. Also, due to communication difficulties and conversations had, I suspect demand has been high for awhile now, they are hustling to constantly keep up meanwhile QC is on a downward spiral.
I’m going to vent a moment then I’m not going to say another thing about my situation ever again. All told I’m out ~$400 out of pocket (diagnostic tools, shipping kit back, oil, gaskets, etc), a considerable amount of time (3 complete tear downs, many hours running around to get stuff and sending emails/phone calls) and I lost out on half the riding season (I legitimately went out and bought another bike so I could finally salvage what was left of it). All that pales in comparison to the amount of frustration it caused me, however.
I feel better now that I’ve finally said that. I’m not one to post negative things publicly but it needed to happen because I don’t feel like things were made right with me and I’m clearly not over it. I know a couple others who’ve had issues also. I therefore do not recommend Hammer and will not do future business with them, but the choice is yours. I just hope nobody has to deal with the shit that I did.
