Did you quit riding? Perhaps "it didn't happen again" yet?

I'm on the board for our local volunteer fire station. After hearing all the favorable reports, maybe I should suggest we put loud pipes on the trucks so they don't get cut off and almost hit while responding to an incident the way they usually do. It would save us a lot of money not having to train the drivers or having to keep the lights and siren fully operational.

Naw.... they ain't gonna hit you.... you got them there loud pipes on.

I apologize.... I've exceeded my sarcasm limit for the week. I am very, very, very sorry.

This is what happens when you should be studying.

This has happened to me a few times here and there when I was sporting a set of Vance & Hines on a VN900. The number of close calls reduced once I put the stockers back on. It could be because I could actually hear what's coming towards me, presumably due to the mysterious and miraculous absence of tinnitus.

No i didn't quit riding. I just changed scoots for a while. But I am back on a Sporty so life is good again. If anything I've probably just gotten lucky. As I said, I sew the loudness as one more thing to grab attention. I most certainly don't rely on it.

Well I don't know about saving my life but saved my ass, an albino deer ran out of the woods right beside me (exhaust side) and was coming right at me and I hit the throttle and he cut and run back into the woods.

This is what barked at it

I've had fewer close calls since I drag piped. I've still had them, just not as many. Coincidence? Maybe. Loud pipes saving lives? Possible. Either way, my experience has been better with the drags.

LOL, yep, you should be studying.

You just proved the point. Why do they spend all that money keeping the sirens functional? For the same reason I like loud pipes. Noise is a defense. If they could hear me screaming like a little girl I wouldn't need loud pipes, but the pipes are more efficient at waking up morons.

Sure, the worst of the idiots will still not hear the pipes, or the siren, that's why we have the ability to reason and explain just what kind of idiot they are being as we slide up to their door. With me, I usually decide that they are "F'n idiots", but I am sure that differs between riders.
