1979 rear brake linkage
I just bought a 1979 XL with highway forward controls. I want to change the setup back to stock mid-controls but I don't have any of the rear brake linkage and I can't find parts anywhere. Has anyone put a different rear brake setup off of the mid-control? I was wondering how difficult it would be to use the setup of a different year that might be easier to find parts for. Has anyone put together a linkage system from after market hardware? Any thoughts?

A 1980 sprocket cover (34911-80) along with a 42459-80 brake pedal & related parts will move the linkage from the inside to the outside. Your rear master cylinder just needs to be turned end for end.
Sadly, you lose the ability to use a kick start with that set-up.

I currently don't have a kick start so I wont have that problem. Thanks for the info. I'll look into pricing some 1980 parts.
