Our summer trip had beautiful weather. With Rainier and Hurricane Ridge near Mount Olympus I've seen glaciers so no need for me to travel any closer to the arctic.
We circled the Olympic peninsula and even made it to Victoria Canada.
Winters are almost too cold to ride here in Arizona though, so I'm stayin'.

Ok ok ok Ed, ya busted me.
When you were there last year did ya go to “Paradise” on Mt. Rainier?
If so then you went through the BIG city of “Ashford” (pop. 200)
I’m just outa town towards Rainier in the woods, by road it’s 13mi. To
The base at “Paradise” but, as the crow flies I’m only about
2mi. From the mountain.
I’ve lived here all my life and sometimes I take for granted the
Beautiful scenery we have here but, it sounds like you got too see a fair chunk of it.

We hiked up from Paradise a bit in July. Before we got there we stopped for lunch at a restaurant and equipment rental, guide operation in a small town ... Ashford perhaps? This was just before Mt. Rainier. Stunningly beautiful area. I took nearly 1,000 pictures on our 2 week trip.

Yep, sounds like “Whittaker’s bunkhouse” if it was, that’s in beautiful downtown Ashford... we moved here when I retired about 5years back from the so. Seattle area, Omg, what a difference!
I used to like the “city life” not anymore! Get’n old an crotchety I guess, LoL.

I looked online for photos to compare with those I took. I didn't see the climbing rock my grandkids were all over, but the menu inside the restaurant looked the same (good food too). And there was the espresso shop too (I love espresso) but it was lunch time so I skipped it. So it must be Ashford.
I'm also a fan of Rainier Cherries. When they arrive here (Az) in season I keep buying bags till they're gone. On our trip to Rainier I stopped at a family's roadside stand. Wonderful stuff.
You definitely live in a beautiful spot Kevin.

It’s funny, now that ya mention cherries I realize that I’ve
Never tried “Rainier” cherries, been here all my life and never had’em,
Lol, more of a strawberry and grape person myself.
Yeah, your correct about the beautiful scenery around here
I really need too take some pics this year when I’m out riding, it’s just so damn hard to stop sometimes, having too much fun riding, lol.

I was never a fan of cherries ... until I met Rainier. I love strawberries too, and I'm eating red grapes right now.
Honestly the next time you find Rainier's on sale buy them immediately!
And report back. PM me.
I have the same problem while riding, zooming past what would have been a great picture. Still I'd recommend doing some photo threads of your favorite rides. I'm sure they'd be Epic!

Hi Kevin. We got back last week from our Year #2 trip to Washington to visit family.
Stopped at Whittaker's for ice cream after Rainier. I want to rent a cabin next year to try and get a clear day for hiking and pictures.
We took a loop drive through a different canyon this time. The family all fit in a 3 row SUV but it would definitely be a great ride on a bike.

Awesome, it’s definitely a beautiful area of the state, and yes imo best enjoyed on a bike!
My wife an I sadly had to move back to Des Moines, Wa.
(Citylife...yuck)
but, at least I’ve got a bigger garage to play in now.

I'm not a city fan either but all of western Washington is beautiful. My son lives in Lacey and would like us to move there. I think spending time each summer works for me.
We've all got a favorite beach trip to Ruby Beach with a stop at Amanda Park for pizza and wings at Dino's. It's got a very similar vibe to a small Arizona town … only green!
