I thought those mirrors were for checking your look before you fire your bike up. Those shiney things are useless with the motor running.

With just the stockers on, it was hard to see past my upper arms. I then added the 2 inch mirror extensions that I learned about here on the forum. They aren't expensive, around $22, and you just add them to the base of your stock mirror stems. It gives you an extra 2 or so inches, and it makes a world of difference! You get to keep the stock mirrors (which I really like the look of), and you don't have to lay out a lot of dough. You would think making them longer would wreak havoc with the visibility, but they shake no worse than if the extensions weren't there. They are really solidly built. Oh yeah, and the clearance that it gives you for your cold weather gloves, hell, that's worth having them in itself!

Couldnt see much more than my forearms in the stockers.I first tried the mirror extensions, they helped alot, but looked like ass on the bike.
Then I got a set of Kuryaken Magnums....What an improvement!!!!
I can actually see!!
Kuryaken says they are not recommended for 04-05`s,but a small washer fixes that.

Not sure if the ones that came on my '89 are short or long length for that year. I do know I couldn't stand just using the left one like previous owner had set up. It took a little adjusting but I only see a piece of my upper arms in the inner corner of each mirror( which I like, I use it to judge if they are moving) But I can see just fine with them.
I do like Dooley's look though, just don't know that I'll try anything different unless I break one or something.

I really like the look of my stock 2006 mirrors. I ordered the same mirrors but with long stems rather than the short ones. I travel a very busy Interstate road to & from work and I really need to be able to use my mirrors. I plan to add a windshield soon too so the longer mirrors may not look out of place. I can also add that my mirrors are nearly vibration-free. Images of my shoulders & elbows is very good! I just figure, how safe can it be, squirming around in traffic at 70 mph trying to see what's behind you? Or turning your head around far enough to see behind you? (Helmet wearer).
