I got a lot done in the last few weeks. I didn't take as many pictures along the way like I had planned, but I'll show you guys what I have. I'm really stoked about the way it's turned out and I'd love to hear what you guys think.
stay tuned

I am waiting on the chain, license plate bracket, rear fender, tail light and a banjo bolt to come. After I get those on (and the temp gets above 2 friggin degrees) she will be ready for the road!
I planned on painting the tank white, maybe put an Avon logo on it or something, but the red looks pretty good to me. I might keep it this way for a while. It ties in a lot better than I expected.
I need to figure out a kick stand. My frame is about 5.5" from the ground (exhaust is 3"). I could just have mine cut and welded, but it's not hollow like I thought it would be so I don't think it would weld very strong. Any suggestions?
any questions just ask. Keep in mind it's my first build, but give me some opinions and advice.

You have a very good build going on . As much as I like the sportster tank (I wouldn't have any other type on my bike) I think it looks a little to big or too high/wide for a board track bike . I took the 3.1 tank off my '01 and replaced it with a 2.2 that has a sight tube on it to see how much gas I have left before I start pushing it .
My bike sits 4" off the ground . I think I put on a stand from a Sportster Low , not sure since I have a lot of stuff around here to play with . My bikes I put together are very basic(plain) . My '01 in the XLF gallery doesn't show how the bike sits since I lowered it .

Thanks guys. I've looked into other tanks and have found some that interest me, but none that I've liked enough to pull the trigger on.
I read somewhere around here that people use Low and Hugger stands on their lowered bikes. Im not sure if it will be low enough. I cut almost 2 inches from mine and seems like that would be enough. All the shit I can find for sale is "1 inch under stock" but doesnt specify which model it's one inch under. One inch under a standard wouldn't do it. One inch under a hugger? That might be the ticket. But even the techs at JPC couldn't give me the details. They said it doesn't specify, just that it's one inch under stock of "the sportster family"
