I have the Harley manual and also a Clymer manual. I use them both, but like the Harley one best.
I also have a Harley parts catalog. It has pictures of how everything fits together with part numbers.

service manual and clymers, next is a parts book. Even if I can't do some of the repairs myself the books help me understand whats going on.

I don't do my own repairs or service, but I bought the manual. It turned out to be a good thing. The mechanic I use was recommended by several people and after talking to him for a while I found out he used to be a dealer mechanic back in the late 60's and opened his own shop in the mid 70's. My bike had some electrical problems and he didn't have a manual to reference so, I gave him my manual and that saved a few days of down time.

I have a Clymers Service Manual but find it can be a little confusing read as it doesn't seem to be 'year specific' really. I have ordered the Off. H-D Svc. Man. from Zannotti and expect it to read easier than the Clymers does. I don't do much wrenching myself but a bud of mine does and even if I don't use it much...it will be available to him for reference also.

Unless you know an awful lot concerning HD's, you'd be foolish not to buy one just for reference purposes if nothing else. Unless they aren't readily available anymore. It wuz one of the first accessories I bought.
