You should try switching from my 883L with the Brembo/VROD setup to the stock 1200R setup...the 1200R isn't bad, but a bit vague in comparison. From my initial rides, the XR brakes are much more inline with the Brembo/VROD setup.

My understanding is the master cylinder from the XR1200 is 15.87mm bore... I guess that is around 10/16??? .... anyway, somewhat larger bore than the stock 1200R's 14mm.

Dan, as always, nice write up and cool conversion. I love what you've done to your 1200R
BTW- change of subject. But how many miles are on your 883L now ? And have you changed out your rear fork(thats what the factory calls it) bearings yet ? The manual says they should be changed at 30,000 miles ? I'm almost at 30k miles myself !

Kind of off topic question. I'd like to do a single Brembo on the front of my 883L. How must of an improvement will it be? I already have a braided line and better than stock brake pads. I'd really like better brakes without going dual disk up front.

Trace is (pretty much) right... The XR master cylinder is 5/8". The stock dual setup for 2007+ is 1/2". I *think* that the 2004-2006 dual brakes (maybe others?) have a 14 mm bore.

I'd recommend having a read of my Brembo thread where I started with the single Brembo setup.

Bottom line is, you will have a significant improvement, especially if you get the correct master cylinder. You could do the same single setup with the XR, but I have no idea which master cylinder is going to work properly.
