Drop a note to Chris, our “Parrothead”, as he has a Softail in his stable.

Faster project moving right along. Received the dash, speedometer, ignition switch dash mount plate kit and hardware. This is a test fit of the base mount plate, speedometer and ignition switch. Without installation instructions thought I would do my best to figure out the basic stuff. So did a test fit of the components unfortunately the dash did not fit so I have to return it to J&P cycles

Die cast dash plate mount

I think Flame_ also has a Softail and might be of some help.

Right tank set to where it needs to be for final assembly. Need to Fab the mount brackets and then onto fuel lines and wiring.

Got the final fabrication of the tank mounts finished and installed. Needs some touch up paint, then final tank assembly, ignition and light wiring, then fuel lines.

Got the mock up and fabrication completed. I mounted the tanks in place Today. I think this is going to look great when finished.

Nice to see mock up helped out before final assembly .

Next will looking for cracks if any stress is applied on mounting tabs on tanks. Hopefully. Static drop in was easy peasy and loosey goosey. Instead of shoe hoe horned in.

ose rank tabs crack easy from vibration sometimes if mounted under tension on mounting point.

Everything went on nice and easy during mock up and pre final assembly didn't have to put any stress on any of the tabs. However I intend to include looking at the tabs and mounts during every pre trip inspection.
