lynx your headlight is a later model that started in'63.the most common headlight.the '59-62 are rare and expensive even here in the U.S. I have one on my 1960 XLCH.if you want to see one.it didn't have it when I bought it someone put the more common-63 on it.it took many years to find the correct one.

Trawled back thru the pics... you,re the green one.
I see the headlamp has a single band - is the casting the same?
Where is the light switch then ? - I,m pondering wiring right now.
The bars had horn left and kill right. Did the lights dip? Its not clear from the diagram.

That's annoying, because it cost to re-chrome mine and I didn,t need too.
My head light looks ok - I thought it might be one of those shouded set ups.
and last - but not least ! I have the right period tank decal (very important )
I,m actually trying to retain the appearance of what I bought (I like it) but its good to see that some of the other bits look right.
Whats your shop website BTW? I,d like a look.
Don't sweat the details! Riding that beast is all that matters..if it makes you smile when your jammin down the road its a winner.

I take no responsibility for what I do..except when it involves wheelies

Look at this visor from ebay for a reference.

You see the 2 holes in addition to the mounting bolt hole? 1 is for a switch, the other is for a high beam indicating light.

Yours should only have the 1 hole for the rotary switch and no indicator light.

Lynnx, I just started to read your post from the beginning, hopefully someone mentioned this already, I only skimmed through. The early bikes had issues with the trans corner busting out due to the speedo drive arrangement.

You should read about this if it wasn't mentioned before!

Wow.
You know how to pop my bubble!
My cases were undamaged, unaltered and certainly not welded up. Well, not there, anyway.!
I built the tranny up with the bible in one hand and a set of feelers in the other like a good boy, and its JUST gone back into the frame.
I hope after 60 years it will be jus, fine!
Pleeze.

Oh, and back to visors lol.... a rotary switch eh?
My visor has the one hole like you say - so what positions did the rotary command?
Off, dip, main?

Yeah, the parts book shows an odd knurled thing pointing down!
But that explains the wiring diagram so at least things make sense.
Thanks for the info!
I don,t exactly "sweat" the details, but if they make sense and I like them, its nice to go back to what SHOULD be there. Otherwise I just raid the parts bin for shiney bits that make me happy! lol
