I posted the same question in the ironhead section in early/mid December called Dragbike, Gas vs. Alcohol. Got some good feedback and info. Those ironhead guys know how to make stuff work. Looks good on paper but it seems like more people are trying to talk me out of it than into it so we're waiting until we learn more. I'm interested in what you find, keep us posted.

Well, I chucked a 42mm mikuni on it and ran it on the dyno. Rich down low, then off the chart lean up top. Tried going richer on the main but couldn't pull a full run because of how lean it was getting.

I think the problem is reversion in the intake. At full noise, even when it was on meth, it blows fuel out the carby with no filter on, it just cant get enough mixture to the cylinder to prevent it from leaning out. Back when the heads were done, the port was welded up to get the comp up and the valves are shrouded.

Got to talk to a head porter and look at redesigning the chambers a bit so the valves are not shrouded and the comp is hi enough to stay with alcohol.....lets see how we go.

Hey D-1 ... still there? did you ever get your heads ported to mate with your cams? I have a set of them and am currently having my heads worked at Hammer in ID to work with them tho I dont have any more specs than you had and have had no one including Hammer positively identify them. They feel the stamped numbers are valve timing events and are working with the lift measurements I made which were pretty much exactly yours. They feel they may be custom Sifton cams. I have read here they may be Leineweber cams, I do see the ES designation in Leineweber's product catalog but dont see the valve timing numbers there.

Talked to Justin at Leineweber about these cams. They are not Leineweber. They are 86-90 EVO Sportster cams from the measurement of the journal length on lobe side of cam. Told him several people were curious about them including myself and he offered to put them in his 86-90 test engine and measure them for a small fee. He will send me back somewhat of a cam card. Off to CA they go.

Hi, haven't been here for a while. Never sorted out what those cams were. Ended up putting a set of 600 Hammer cams in there. Reshaped the chamber a bit and ran it. Cracked 100 hp, but needs a better exhaust to really make it sing.

Sending those cams to Justin at Leineweber this week, he is going to measure them for me on his test engine and give me a makeshift cam-card. Hammer ported my heads with the lift info pretty much identical to yours I measured and the numbers which are intake open/close I believe. Was wondering if you used them on a road bike with 1200cc and a factory CV and how the bike idled, sounded and drove with them. Im using them with a fresh 1200cc, smash ported Hammer 86 1100 heads a factory S CV carb and RB 2-1 exhaust. Looking for a strong street bike with factory tires and early optional belt system. Forget what the gear ratio was on that belt setup.

Just got my cam card back and Justin advised they are a "great" set to use in my application. My first attempt at attaching a file to this forum with it follows, hope it works ...

My chambers were set for 62cc to work with my factory replacement pistons, Dan at Hammer said they might be a little low on compression, will send him this card and ask if I might shave head alittle more as he didnt have this info when my heads were done. Need to verify what crush thickness head gasket to use anyways, thought I had had him set for factory gasket thickness but my motor guy asked me.
