Mine don't have any such screws, and the mirrors have never shook loose. The mirrors are the same as they were on my '05 and my '13, and on the BTs I had. They did update the design.

No, they came out with a new design, and that was over 15 years ago! The new (!) mirrors are retrofittable to older bikes back to 1982.

I always carry tools in case things shake loose, but have only ever really needed them on my Honda trаil bіke. Go figure!

Never had an issue with mine and carrying tools is just a smart thing to do. That's what fork bags are for. Hell, I can change the jets in the carb on the side of the road in 5 minutes.
I carry an assortment of tools so I'm prepared to tighten/fix as much as possible on the fly.
Honestly, I can't understand why anyone WOULDN'T want to carry a screwdriver or find it an inconvenience.

just ordered 2 sets of 2" stem extensions for mine..........can't see anything but my shoulders and "flipped" is even worse.

if this doesn't solve it, i'll bite the bullet and buy long stem adjustables

I swapped sides for the mirrors on my Iron1200 and hung them upside down. The view behind me is greatly improved now since my shoulders are wider than my waist. When you do this, you will likely have to swing the front turn signals out of the way on their pivots, but this is simple to do.

Like finding the right riding position, the handlebars make a HUGE DIFFERENCE in the issue of what you can see from your mirrors... All those tight, narrow bars are going to place the mirrors directly in front of your body...

My buckhorn bars are just about shoulder width and my body is visible in about 1/4 of the mirror with the other 3/4 showing the road directly behind me and then out to the side...

The stock mirrors on my 2005 Sporty were totally useless because I could only see my arms and shoulders. I replaced them with V-Twin 34-0296 Mirror Set Long-Stem, Wide Lens which not only gave me an excellent view but also were true view - not "objects may be closer..." view. There is also a Phillips screw in the back of each so that I could tighten them when they came loose and are great. They are excellent.
UPDATE:
My mirrors are still performing perfectly. After a few hundred miles, I had to tighten them and found they were fixed in place with Blue Loctite -- no problem, I just cranked down tighter with a very good Phillips head screwdriver and they have stayed tight after thousands of miles. I would never go back to looking at my arms and shoulders again just so I could have a Harley logo on my mirrors.

UPDATE: I think the reason my OEM mirrors had limited view is my sitting position. My bike is a Sporty Standard with mid-controls and I sit upright. I think the riders in the laid back, slouching position with forward controls probably have their review mirrors in a higher position relative to their bodies. I can't verify this because I can't ride any bike with forward controls due to my herniated disc and sciatica. My warranty has expired on my body and I can't find a good body shop to remove the last 40 years of damage.

My mirrors, handlebars , clutch and brake controls. Are all adjustable.

Stock do me fine till me and the bike go sliding and new mirrors are called for.

I am tall and have arms for days. Stock mirrors are on my 1980. Short bars also.
My 1990 has ape hangers that reach for the sky. I don't have stock mirrors on it though.
