With out the weekend crush you can talk to vendors.

I was at the weirs the week before bike week and It always a fun ride up route 107 from Kingston, nh.
This is exactly what has happened to Speedway out here too. The party is over. It probably wasn't a meteor that took out the dinosaurs, most likely it was boredom after the party lost it's luster.

At least we saw it though. I still remember one particular yellow chopper I saw there in the early 70's. They were all unique then, not the factory add on parts, not the television bike builder bikes, just well thought out self customized daily rides. Everything was a chopper. WTF is a "bobber"? That was a chopper like the rest until the long forks got popular, then they stole the name and someone I guess decided bobber fit the daily riders better.

I think I'm ranting. I'll stop now.

It used to be a way of life, not a lifestyle. I went to every weekend from '74 when I was 16, even 75 with no "official rally" year, missed 80-81 and then went '82-90. I remember original owner knuckleheads and pans, crazy extended frames and forks, rats, the VW chopper trike that shot flames and more nasty long tits than you'd ever want to see. I met O.G. gypsy riders, guys in their 70's with all their worldy possessions tied and strapped to their knucks. That was when we were ALL 1%-ers, we rode Harleys because it was the wrong thing to do. I rode Harleys to be outside polite society, I'm not a nine to fiver, I find most laws too repressive and most people to be aggravating sheep, now I'm lumped in with every jackass with a bundle of money and a set of loud pipes.
Everything is too safe and family oriented now. Daytona and Sturgis are a joke.

Yep. From a band of a few riders having a good time to a event can be a let down.

I still find small good runs out west here that are still old school. I am pretty sure you east coasters could find some like this

Hmmm. I wonder if blowupster has a spare room?
