I have been putting polls in forums and Facebook groups ( - I do hate Facebook, but it's an evil necessity). The results are interesting, roughly reflecting the (tiny) poll here: except that many people said they wanted a bigger M8 engine in the next Sportster. (Though most still prefered the 883/1200 combo.)
I'll be putting all the results in my next YouTube M8 Sportster video, probably on the 12th (not the 24th - sorry!).
Anyway, many thanks for all your replies. Most enlightening! (Though I don't disagree with Shanneba - sorry mate.)
Cheers,
Chris

Wow - many thanks NLXL, I do appreciate the kind words. (Which can be surprisingly rare on the interweb.)
Thanks again,
Chris

My 107 M8 would be just fine in a Sportster frame.
It would be nice if they didn't put a radiator on the Sportster, so the M8 would be a good choice, but I don't see that happening with the Shoe Salesman in charge now (I wonder if he is like Al Bundy), I believe he wants them gone completely.
He has killed the Street line, as of 2018 it was the 4th best selling motorcycle on the planet, the other 3 were very small 125s or 200s, so I don't buy the poor sales BS. I believe they are leaning towards going with a few high-end Touring Bikes and some Electrics.
The entire BoD is a group of anti ICE *#*! for the most part.

Morning SLW - interesting view. A 107 ci (1745cc) Sportster? Ooooh!
But where did you get the sales quote from? It'd be very useful to see source - I need a good sales quote for my next video...
Cheers,
Chris

107" would be powerful. I wouldn't kick it out of bed
But you need heavier frame to handle that much power and everything just gets bigger
I love the sportster because it is smaller/lighter

True enough Steve - I agree that any new Sportster should remain smaller and lighter. Maybe 107/1745 is a step too far (especially in bed)??
Cheers,
Chris

Never saw the need to have 883/1200. I bought an '05 883 which was essentially identical to a 1200 but was 4# heavier. It was cheaper, but there is no reason why. It was marginally cheaper to insure, but the Moco don't care about that. So I go with #3.
#3. 883 is no longer required, larger engines only
