Just raise the back wheel or do a smoke show, it will show the speedometer is working.
Good for you to have see that pin, I did repair a bike with a pushed pin not seen by three dealers; that girl, the owner, was dancing while going to have her FLHTCU inspected. Did you ever seen the web of wire in the fairing of those bike has???

I have a brand new Pirelli Night Dragon tyre one the back, so I don't really want to burn it. If it was an old tyre then maybe I would smoke the garage up a bit.

Success!!! The speedometer is working. It was the orange wire giving power to the speedometer function and the neutral and oil light.

You weren’t able to get it to show the correct mileage? Thinking about trying a Dakota digital speedometer but don’t want to mess it up if I switch back
