Rolli, can I ask what you used to secure it to your primary there? Quite a nice machine.
Hi Roane,
I took piece of stainless steel wire about 2-3mm dia.
Heat it up and form it in shape of an 8 (eight) so the allen bolt fits exactly to one eye of the eight. The hydr. tube goes to the other eye. Open up the tubes eye a bit, cover it with shrinking tube. Hook up the hydr. tube and close the eye with a pliers.
Then use a copper seal (washer) on the primary case followed by a steel washer to avoid oil coming out and a washer on top of the bolt. The allen bolt replaces the adjusting piece of the orig. clutch cable. Can't remember the thread size.

Hope i could help a bit...

So, took off the primary. There was some flaking of metal at the bottom and it seemed to be coming from the rusted plate on clutch, which is very close to the edge on that side. Pics below. Question one is if I need to sand this down or get the tools to pull it and dig deeper.

Question two is related to me possibly mis-reading the directions on installing the hydroclutch. The distance from the bottom of the thrust collar to what I believe is the primary boss (the metal ridge that us just before the threads start for the plug hole) is about 2 1/2 inches. The entire length of my adjuster screw is only 1 9/16. Is this just impossible or am I supposed to further cut down the adjusting screw by 7/16?

Also, worth noting this is a 1977 ironhead. I've owned it since about 1988 but it was sitting dormant for more than a decade. The engine was rebuilt and I've been messing with fixing and putting the rest in order.

So, I cleaned up the rust and got the unit installed (haven't used locktite on the nut yet). If i need to pull it and adjust the screw again, is there any way to do it without re-bleeding the line? Also any bleeding tips for this one?

And wondering if anyone has any recs for a new smaller box for my high/low beam, turn signal, horn. The box is too big to fit now that I have the hydrocluch shifter on there. Hoping for something I could just connect the leads to and it would work.
