On an 1/8 mile track you may well put them to shame.

I have some catching up to do. Thanks everyone for the insights and such.
It has gas carb on it, but I haven’t checked compression or had a look at the jetting yet. No plans to run nitro, that stuff is way out of my league.
I’ll definitely have to check out the rule books. I don’t plan on doing anything crazy with it, just some test and tunes and eventually nostalgia get togethers. I’ve seen guys run similar bikes at Maple Grove on a Friday night so fingers crossed I pass tech. Some of the tracks around here are more lax than others, Cecil comes to mind. I’ve been meaning to check out the racing that RMC does, looks awesome.
Will definitely need to weigh the bike soon. Moving it around the garage, it feels like a feather compared to my Evo Sportster. Feels a good bit lighter than my rigid frame later Ironhead also. My Evo Sportster is pretty hot (106 wheel, short gearing, stripped some), but I’m putting my money on this old girl.
It runs whatever it runs though, I’ll have fun no matter what. I just like to get my toys out to the drags or road course track days when I can.

I see some of you guys are fairly local to me. Wondering if any of you know of a competent local machinist? I need to have the throttle plate bushings replaced in the GAL and I have the S&S kit in hand. I'm a bit nervous taking it to just anyone. Unfortunately, the guy I always used is now retired.
Edit: Spoke with S&S, they suggested a place in Louisiana called B&B Racing. Called them and they've done the work in the past, so it seems I've got a good option there.

Thanks for that. I'm glad to hear they are 12", because I just picked up a set in that length. The bike has inspired me to do up my '68 in a similar fashion, but street/strip.
Yes, definitely be cautious about who you trust to bush that GAL. As far as I can gather from the experienced guys on the forum, it is a job that is commonly done poorly.

That's awesome! Looking forward to seeing pictures and whatnot. I'm a big fan of street/strip bikes and cars.
GAL is in the mail to B&B Racing. Seemed like the best outfit for the job. Fingers crossed...

Late on chiming in but I expect Dr Dick might be a local resource for that type of work.
