A lot of attention to flow rate and very little to the quality of the atomisation and the effectiveness of the metering circuits. This is at least as important or we would all be running Wal Phillips fuel injection: http://www.b50.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8047

That carb set up correctly works fantastic on a 1000c.f. iron head. But alas parts are hard to find now.

Ihad Wal phillips fuel injector fitted to a Ariel Arrow 250 2 stroke
it went like like hell left all my mates behind ,but it used a lot of fuel
and yes you had to turn fuel tap on then off, kick bike turn it back on again

Good God, I had a tried a lake injector. Rectangular chrome body phenolic flat slide with only a main and needle. Constant fuel flow. Turn off the fuel tap at shut down or what a mess.

Many comments, many apple/orange comparisons.
There is no fixed 20% or other flow rate comparison between disc and slide, too many other variables. The surface under a Concentric slide is a nightmare, far worse than a DCOE.
One of the advantages of a slide carburetor is that the main nozzle (needle jet, emulsion tube) tip is near the bottom of the throat - where all of the air goes when the slide begins to open. No disc carburetor does that.
How to make a large disc carburetor function smoothly at alow speed on a small engine? Booster venturi (I adapted a Holley booster to a Linkert Model M 30 years ago).
I've written books on the Linkert Model M (http://victorylibrary.com/L-BK.htm), Amal Concentric (http://victorylibrary.com/CONC.htm), Amal Monobloc (http://victorylibrary.com/MONO.htm), and using the Mikuni VM on H-D & Indian twins (http://victorylibrary.com/MIK-HD.htm) & English bikes (http://victorylibrary.com/MIK-BT.htm).
