Long story short, posting the same question on different forums isn't getting you a different answer.

A common misconception is the oil heats up as fast as the motor.
The heads will be much hotter much faster than the oil after a short idle shutoff.
This is normal.
Rolling the motor over in 5th gear does little to nothing for circulating oil.
I hope you didn't wrang the throttle just to get that good feeling on fire-up.
It's possible you got a pool of oil in the heads right where the breather holes.
That could be the smoke as a pool of oil would have no choice but to buildup pressure and blow out at once.
The spillage would make splash and smoke until the path is clear.
More info is needed for any more diagnoses than what's already been given.

Run a compression test on the cylinders before taking anything apart. If you have good and near equal compression on both cylinders then your head gasket(s) should be good.

There should always be an oil light, no matter how bare bone the bike is...

I started it up yesterday and took it for a short ride. The oil tank was warm to the touch after a few minutes of riding so the oil is definitely circulating but I'll have to replace the front head gasket. While riding every time I opened the throttle a little I noticed and felt with my hand a leak from the left side of the front head gasket area.

^^^^^^^

It's your money but sometimes you can create more work than is required.
We don't know how the motor sounds like, what the compression is, and a hundred other questions.
I'd do the compression test, if it fails then go in.
If it passes, you may have rocker box gasket leak instead.
If the rocker box gaskets leak, you may have a worn out breather valve in the middle rocker boxes.
If...If....If....

The two middle head gasket bolts on the right side are weak due to placement and care should be taken while removing the head bolts.
Do them in sequence like you are installing them.
If something don't feel right when removing them, stop and find out why.
