Cool 1974 ironhead intake

hello does anybody no if i can bolt a s&s super b to a stock intake manifold or do i have to get a s&s intake i have ben there befor i do not rember getting old thanks for the info iam new to this site but think its great

Welcome to the madness at the forum.

I do believe you will need a different manifold. Friend has S&S on his 74 and the manifold is different than the stock one.

yea thats what i thought iwas thinking the bolt pattern was the same i and7/8 is the same so i will take it apart and see whats up thanks

you can modify the stock manifold by enlarging the holes, the port is smaller than the venturi on the S&S, so its not really correct, but will work ok.

With the larger carb throat mating up to the smaller intake, you may have some disruption or swirling of the fuel air mixture entering the cylinders. I do not however know if this will affect your performance. Perhaps some others have some data on it.

yea thats what i thought i would have to do some thing like that i am going to do it i will let you know how or if it works thanks for all your input you helped me make up my mind sometimes you just got say what the hell and take a shot hey does any body have a super b intake for an ironhead o ring heads its got to be on the cheep side though thanks very helpfull
