Default Sundowner seat positioning

I'm seeing conflicting info about where the Sundowner seat positions you. How far forward or back and how high relative to the OE seat. Some say it moves you forward while others say it moves you back. Pics of the Solo version (for my '17) sure look like you sit farther back.

So, is the conflict because the Solo and the two up version for the earlier bikes put the rider in a different spot? The 2 up version for the earlier bikes moving the rider forward? Anybody know?

I like where my LePera Daytona Daddy Long Legs sits me but unless it "breaks in" more it's not an all day seat but definitely better than the OE seat. Guess I'm still looking for an all day seat.

There is more than one OEM seat. Some intentionally have you more forward like the Reach. Different Sportsters may have different stock positions, I am not sure.

My 2-up Sundowner could certainly stand to be a little further back for me. I am 5'9 with a 33.5" inseam and long arms. I bought it with the Sundowner, so I cant compare to OEM standard seating. HTH

There lies the conflict. Is there a difference in rider position between the earlier bike 2 up Sundowner and the later bike solo Sundowner? I'm getting the impression there is.

Does your dealer have a seat demo program?

Many in the US do. I tried out the Sundowner before I purchased one.

I've got the Sundowner solo seat on my '19 Iron 883.It sits me about an inch or so higher and the same amount farther back.

No.

Since you have one, a Solo? Where does it put you?

Mine is the two up version.

I didn't really notice any change in my seating position or foot controls compared to the standard XL1200C seat.

I've heard it sits you further up and forward than stock. Normal stock.

Which tank are you using? When I replaced the stock 3.3 tank on my Roadster with a 4.5 Custom tank, I found that I had to replace my Sundowner as well. I found the Sundowner for the 3.3 to be more comfortable than the Sundowner for the 4.5. Another thing that affects comfort is which bars are you using. There is no perfect seat for everybody. The seat that's ideal for one person is horrible for another. I think that when I get my next Roadster, I'm going to try a Mustang wide solo w/ passenger seat. Since I've never even sat on one, I'll be buying off a spec sheet ; but a lot of long distance riders seem to really like them.

You’re more than welcome to try mine John, should have done that while in Cheviot?
