Looking for 1200 slip ons? As in what? A good pair or the stock pair? Or any pair you can get for cheap? Cuz there's a BIG difference. Not all slip ons are worth a $h!+. Some aren't worth their weight in scrap. That includes the stock ones.
Unless you hate your motor and want to choke it to death.

I have a stock partially hollowed out mufflers (dont remember if I did the Gronk mod or???) Which I would send you for cost of shipping.

I also have a pair of SE baloney cut slipons - removed the packing and re-assembled to make louder. These I may want some money or a trade of some sort. Although the fron pipe has scrape marks from cornering - actually wore the bolt head off a couple times (one reason for going to a different exhaust)

Not looking for stocks, had Screaming Eagle tips when I first got the bike, went with drag shorties. Just redone a bunch on the bike and wanting to actual exhaust back on it. Only been in the Harley world 3 years, 2nd bike all together. Learning ad I go, but everything on my bike has been done by me not some shop. So in a sense I suppose I can take some pride in that at least.

Gronk Mod? 3 years into the Harley game. Never heard that term. Screaming Eagle breather, custom cut for more air, and re jetted the carb. So, needing something that can breathe well. Have back pressure cones, baffled tips my motor set up isnt a fan of. Essentially made this post for guidance/advice. Everything I've done myself. Fab,paint etc.

I see, misunderstood that you're not looking to obtain pipes, but you're looking for advice whats best to use. It's just that your post is in the buy and trade section.

This forum has all the answers. Just need to know first what you have in mind for performance vs. Budget vs looks vs loudness.

I suggest the Khromewerks HP Plus 3" slip ons. Great performance thru out the entire rpm range and while they're fairly loud, they're a nice deep rumble kind of loud. Not tinny, obnoxious loud.
Their unique, patented, only baffle of its kind has been a proven winner for decades and are made right here in the upper midwest. Their quality and construction are the best there is. Any other slip on fails in comparison. The body is ceramic lined, then fiberglass lined with a stainless steel screen. All the rest, if they use any at all, wrap the actual baffle with fiberglass.

For performance you can look at NRHS or Hammer website for dyno runs comparing various pipes. The overall take is that 2:1 systems perform best across the whole RPM range, but the right 2:2 can also do really well. A true dual exhaust (no cross-over) if properly tuned for the motor can be made to work better than any at a given RPM, but poor at other speeds. Keeping in mind that many manufacturers build for looks/sound and NOT performance, or they have some gimmick that claims to add horsepower but doesn't.

It's not about "restriction" with exhaust systems - it's about flow velocity and pressure waves. With too big/open of pipe the exhaust stops flowing (or even go backwards) between strokes = poor performance. This is why some use anti-reversion cones at the head with drag pipes but that it is a compromise. Too small would restrict at higher RPM but less reversion. The muffler part of at stock exh could be considered "too restrictive".

I chose the SuperTrapp 2:1 mainly because it puts the noise further behind the passenger for long-distance riding, and second for better ground clearance. I shouldn't have been surprised that this really woke up an otherwise stock stage-1 bike. It made the fuel mixture tuning way smoother across the RPM range, and it's easy to change the disc configuration on the ST if you want it louder (although too-open of pipe definitely makes less power). I like it loud, but I haven't found a way to get loud + performance with any pipe.

The Gronk mod you can find on this forum (and maybe in Sportsterpedia???) It's the best you can get out of stock exhaust and is practically free. IIRC it performs as good/better than the SE slip-ons, and you can even get decent sound from it if you have the right amount of packing in it.
