Seriously, for something so simple there seems to be a 100 different ways and bits of advice out there on how to adjust thrοttle cables. Chris Hajer, that was good. Basically what the manual dictates.

I run the stock carb but have 8+ stock extended Barnett thrοttle cables. With my pull cable slacked off completely it still reaches the cam stop.

My way of doing it quickly has been to turn the bars fully to the right, slack the adjusters off completely, then tighten both adjusters with equal turns until there's only a little bit of slop in the thrοttle grip.

I ride a 2006 Ѕportster xl1200r
I found my way over here via Screw Loose Dan's drag bar install thread. I have one question re: the thrοttle adjustment although it could apply to some other threads like the air box mod deal, anyway here goes: Are these instructions good for fuel injection as well as carbourated bikes?

Why do you care? You have an '06.

Good question BTW.

I'm planning to put drag bars on my bike and Screw Loose Dan's thread said you have to adjust the throttle. The link here is for a carbourated bike and I wonder if the instructions will work for a fuel injected bike.

But if you have an '06, you don't have a fuel injected bike. Or do you have an '07 model year bike, but made in '06? In which case, it's an '07.

This is embarasing I just checked the reg and it does say 2007!...I bought it 1/5/07 so I assumed since it was built in 06 it would have been an 06 model but I see now that production runs one year in advance of the model year. I guess you learn something new every day....

Yeah, the '07 bikes came out in Autumn (Fall) '06. Some clever person can probably tell us what month that happens.

I'm sure the principle is exactly the same. Can someone with an EFI bike chime in and tell us if there are any detail differences that Mike needs to be aware of?
