I do know that you can see police 883's that are being used on duty in DC sometimes.

I'm curious if the Vin #s indicate that they are factory built police bikes or just standard bikes purchased for training or escort/parade duty.

Obviously you'd have to check, but likely they are factory built and Vin coded as police bikes. They've long had police Sportsters in the line up. Not that there's much unique about them typically.

Awhile back I looked at using the Police bike charging system in my Orange bike, a ‘06”R”. It was 30amps at that time, a precursor to the F.I. System introduced into the model line in 2007. Probably other charges also. Don’t recall what the rigid Police models had for charging output.
